The concrete objective of the program is to produce graduates who can add value to the institutions and organizations they work for in the fields of psychology and related areas; who have acquired scientific thinking, analysis, synthesis, modeling, and problem-solving skills; who can conduct original research; who can produce knowledge on a universal scale and adhere to scientific ethical rules in knowledge production and application processes; can transfer the scientific knowledge they produce into practice, can effectively share their knowledge and experience with society and scientists working in related fields, and contribute to our country’s scientific and practical accumulation in the field of psychology; and to train contemporary Psychology graduates and academics who have embraced and internalized the general mission and vision of Çankaya University, which is successful both in scientific education and in practice. Furthermore, the program aims to offer courses that serve as a guide for students from other departments who are interested in psychology but have limited interest and knowledge, helping them develop general knowledge and skills in the fundamental areas of psychology, its theoretical foundations, principles, and research and application methods.

The program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the fundamental topics, methods, approaches, and applications of psychology, enabling them to develop analytical thinking skills. Throughout their education, students are encouraged to participate in research projects in collaboration with different fields such as psychiatry, sociology, political science and public administration, philosophy, business, and cognitive neuroscience, in order to foster their collaborative, active, and productive development. This aims to develop scientific knowledge and encourage innovative thinking on issues of national importance.

At Çankaya University’s Department of Psychology, our students take courses in the fundamental subfields of psychology, including clinical psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, and experimental and cognitive psychology. In addition, they are required to take introductory-level courses in various other fields such as philosophy, sociology, mathematics, and economics. In addition, our program includes courses in various subfields that have gained importance in psychology in recent years, such as health psychology and traffic psychology, providing students with a broad perspective. While the course content in our program covers theoretical knowledge, ethical and professional aspects of the science of psychology are also frequently emphasized in the relevant courses. Starting in the second semester of their third year, our students begin taking elective courses within their department related to the subfield they are interested in and wish to specialize in. Following the completion of their third year, they undertake a mandatory internship in the summer semester in one of the five core subfields of psychology, chosen by themselves. During their internships, our faculty members who are experts in the subfield chosen by our students are assigned as “internship advisors” and provide them with guidance. In addition, courses such as “Observation and Interview Techniques” and “Neuropsychological Tests” are taught in the Psychology Laboratory, combining theory and practice, giving students the opportunity to put what they have learned into practice. Our students, especially in their 4th year, prepare themselves extremely effectively for the field they will work in after graduation and/or for their graduate studies through a wide range of elective courses offered within the department that cover all subfields of psychology. Furthermore, our students have the opportunity to publish scientific papers under the guidance of faculty members and participate in international and/or national congresses and conferences with the scientific research they conduct, both within the scope of their courses and by working as student assistants. Furthermore, our students who complete their undergraduate education in English participate in Erasmus and Internship Exchange programs during their undergraduate studies and are successful in gaining admission to graduate programs abroad.
