Double Major Program
Undergraduate students who meet the necessary conditions can follow a double major program in another department in addition to their major department. Students who graduate from double major programs receive a bachelor’s degree from both programs they follow.
Application Requirements
- The application requirements for the double major program and the documents required for application are announced by the Registrar’s Office. Applications are submitted to the Registrar’s Office until the deadline specified in the academic calendar. Students can apply to a maximum of three double major programs at the same time by ranking their preferences.
- Until the semester he / she applies, he / she must have received a successful grade from all credit / non-credit courses taken in the major program and his / her GPA must be at least 70 out of 100 (2.50 out of 4).
- The student must be in the top 20% of the class in which he / she is enrolled in terms of success ranking, and for those who do not meet this condition, he / she must have a score not less than the base score of the double major program in the relevant year.
- The student must not have been dismissed from any double major program voluntarily or for any reason until the semester of application.
- The student who wants to double major in programs that require the requirement of success ranking, in addition to the above-mentioned conditions, must have the Higher Education
must have met the success ranking requirement determined by the Board.
Success and Graduation Requirements
- Students whose GPA falls below 65 out of 100 (2.25 out of 4) are dismissed from the double major program.
- In order for the student to graduate from the double major program, the GPA must be at least 70 out of 100 (2.50 out of 4).
- During the entire double major program, the student’s double major GPA may drop to 65 out of 100 (2.25 out of 4) for one time only. Students whose double major GPA falls below 70 out of 100 (2.50 out of 4) for the second time are dismissed from the double major program.
- Students who do not take courses in the double major program for two consecutive semesters are dismissed from the double major program.
- A student who is considered to be on leave from the major program is automatically considered to be on leave in the double major program.
- Double major program students are included in the success ranking only in their major program.
- Students who follow the double major program are awarded associate’s/undergraduate diplomas of their major programs at the end of the semester in which they graduate from their major programs.
- Students who have obtained the right to graduate from the double major program are not given the diploma of the double major program without obtaining the right to graduate from the major program.
- The education period of students who have obtained the right to graduate from the major program and have not yet completed the double major program is the maximum period specified in paragraph (c) of Article 44 of Law No. 2547 starting from the academic year in which they enrolled in the double major diploma program.
- A student who leaves the double major undergraduate program can apply to the department that conducts the program to receive the certificate of the minor program with the courses taken until the semester in which he/she left the program, if the double major department also offers a minor program and if the student has fulfilled all the requirements of the minor program. If the student has not fulfilled all the requirements of the minor program, he/she can continue the minor program by applying again to complete the missing courses.
- The student’s success in the major program and graduation are not affected in any way due to the double major program.
- A separate transcript is prepared for the double major program. The double major transcript includes all courses of the double major program.
- Courses that are counted in both programs are shown on the student’s transcripts in both programs.
Minor Program
Undergraduate students who meet the necessary conditions can follow a minor program consisting of a certain number of courses from a different undergraduate program or a certain number of interdisciplinary courses. The minor program is not an undergraduate program. Students who complete this program are awarded a certificate.
Application Requirements
- The application requirements for the minor program and the documents required for application are announced by the Registrar’s Office.
- Students can apply to a maximum of three minor programs at the same time by ranking their preferences.
- The student must be enrolled in the major undergraduate program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest.
- The student must have received a successful grade in all credit/non-credit courses taken in the major undergraduate program until the semester of application and must have a GPA of at least 65 out of 100 (2.25 out of 4).
- The student must not have been dismissed from the minor program voluntarily or for any reason until the semester of application.
Success and Graduation Requirements
- Students whose GPA falls below 60 out of 100 (2.00 out of 4) are dismissed from the minor program.
- In order for the student to graduate from the minor program, the GPA must be at least 60 out of 100 (2.00 out of 4). Students whose GPA falls below 60 out of 100 (2.00 out of 4) for two consecutive semesters in which they take courses in the minor program are dismissed from the minor program.
- Students who do not take courses in the minor program for two consecutive semesters are dismissed from the minor program.
- Students who are considered to be on leave from the major program are automatically considered to be on leave in the minor program.
- Minor program students are included in the success ranking only in the major program.
- Students who follow the minor program are awarded the undergraduate diplomas of their major programs at the end of the semester in which they graduate from their major programs.
- Students who complete the minor program are not given the certificate of the minor program without obtaining the right to graduate from the major program.
- Students who have obtained the right to graduate from the major program and have not yet completed the minor program are given an additional period of maximum two semesters with the decision of the relevant board of directors. Students who fail to successfully complete the courses of the minor program at the end of this period are dismissed from the program.
- The success and graduation of the student in the major program is not affected in any way due to the minor program.
- A separate transcript is prepared for the minor program. The minor program transcript includes all courses of the minor program.
- Students who complete the minor program cannot benefit from the rights and authorizations granted by the bachelor’s and associate degree diploma in the minor field.
- Courses that are counted in both programs are shown on the student’s transcripts in both programs.
